ABOUT:
Dynamic Visual Storytelling
The art of visual storytelling is as old as the human race itself. Throughout history, from cave drawings to ebooks, our most primal forms of communication are intensely visual in nature. That’s why it’s more critical than ever to understand and harness visual storytelling techniques today so our stories can make an immediate emotional connection with readers. Join us to go beyond the words to discover why so many of the world’s most beloved stories are immortalized as picture books, chapter books and graphic novels.

ABOUT:
Critique Night
Sharing your work with other writers and artists is one of the best ways to grow in your writing practice — just read the acknowledgments of any book, to see how often people from writing groups are mentioned.
Please prepare either a picture book manuscript or the first five pages (double spaced with one inch margins all around) of your work in progress (WIP). These pages will be read aloud to the group. Illustrators may share up to five pieces of artwork.
Because we will be meeting on Zoom, it is important that everyone who wants to share pages for critique RSVP no later than noon on Wednesday, February 10 with a description of what you plan to share (e.g., picture book, middle grade, young adult, illustrators). If your work is a specific genre like nonfiction, fantasy, or historical fiction, please include that as well. Depending on the response, we will break into smaller groups.
