Writer’s Day

This annual spring event held at the iconic Skirball Cultural Center, offers an opportunity to focus on the current market for children’s publishing as well as your own writing. Attend the keynote speeches in the main auditorium exclusively or choose to spend some of the day in a breakout session.

The featured keynote speakers include Industry professionals such as acquiring editors, agents and notable authors, who share their perspectives on everything from industry trends and personal preferences, to advice on writing, editing, publishing and marketing your own books.

The day is interspersed with opportunities to meet and mingle with fellow writers during lunch (included with registration), and breaks, and even to compete in a writing contest in multiple children’s lit categories. The lucky winners not only receive free tuition to a future SCBWI-L.A. event, they will also receive a free 20 minute face-to-face critique with an editor or agent.
